When the road makers of the last century opened up the roads on the Isle of Man for the growing number of tourist little did they realise that they were creating some of the classic routes of motoring folk-law. The pretty island in the Irish Sea 32 miles long and less than 15 miles wide has over many years been the mecca for all lovers of the internal combustion engine.

Driving Glen Roy, Druidale, Injebreck, The Curraghs, Foxdale Mines, Little London and the spectacular Marine Drive is a mouth watering prospect for any red blooded rally enthusiast. All these and more will feature in an action packed two days on the "Three Legs of Mann". You’ve read about these special roads now is the time to come and experience the challenge .

The event includes twenty five special tests, (some on fabulous closed roads), over a dozen regularities and a ninety mile evening leg. A tulip road book, supplemented by pre marked maps should ensure that non rally time is not spent plotting but enjoying the island and the camaraderie of fellow competitors.

Douglas, the IOM's largest town, will play host to the event and the rally HQ, at the centrally located Hilton Hotel with parking to accommodate the entire rally, is less than a mile from the ferry terminal.

Clerk of the Course Fred Bent and Manx resident John Bateson have been working tirelessly to secure the test sites and road closures. They are busy putting the finishing touches to their plans and look forward welcoming both old friends and newcomers on this new event.

The assistance of the Manx Government with the enthusiastic support and co-operation of the Manx motor clubs has made this event possible. Our regular marshalling team will be supported by officials and marshals from the local clubs on the island.

Route Definition

Route information will generally be in the form of pre marked maps, issued one hour before the start of each leg. Regularities will be designed to be easy to follow with few speed changes, the emphasis of the event is for a short fun packed weekend event where just a few seconds will separate the leading crews.

Cars must be of a model type that was first produced prior to the end of 1981, although only pre 1974 type cars will be eligible for overall awards. The cars will be spilt into classes, based on age and cc.

The Classic Rally Association will continue to generally favour older cars and the route chosen has been planned around cars from the 1960’s but both older and newer cars will feel equally at home. The scoring on the test sections is class based so you will be scoring against other similar aged cars.

I have not rallied before / I have done lots of rallies…

Whichever applies to you, or if you fit somewhere in between you won’t be alone, all our events have a good mix of crews and you’ll soon make friends with other crews regardless of their abilities. On most of our events about 20% of the entrants are new and rapidly learn from the more experienced crews around them.
