As the event that started the Classic Rallying scene in 1988 the Classic Marathon has a long history of venturing into new territory. Over its fifteen year history it's rallied through such diverse landscapes as the Italian Alps, the Picas de Europas, across Europe to Prague, the Pyrenees and Luxembourg and even as far as Marrakesh.
In 2004 we are setting a new challenge, as the Marathon heads off to Scandinavia for the first time! Starting in Lübeck we travel up through Denmark to catch the ferry to Norway to experience its spectacularly rugged landscape from some truly outstanding rally roads.
News from Norway
As many of you know route designer Keith Baud is not usually lost for words but reporting back from Norway he says "I can't find the words to do this country justice." It's going to be a memorable Marathon that should not be missed. So far Keith and Tom Granli, our Norwegian team member, have found over 300kms of smooth gravel roads to use and still have a day to go! Anyone worried about driving such large distances on loose surfaces need not be concerned. "They are as smooth as the hard shoulder of the M1" Keith assures us, and far less traffic. We are still looking for that 100% finishing record - we came close in Ireland with only 2 retirements - can you help us to better that on the Marathon?
